Daily life is fast paced and before you know it days, weeks, months and even years have gone by in the blink of an eye. Often, it feels like there is not enough time to make space for the important things. However, Vanuatu offers a different pace. On this South Pacific island nation you can take time out and slow down. Encouraging Aussies to not let real life pass them by, Vanuatu is calling for us to reconnect with what really matters and to finally cash in our well-deserved annual leave on its friendly, peaceful shores.

In a new campaign by Vanuatu tourism, Australian travellers are inspired to use their annual leave to ‘wake up in Vanuatu’. Leveraging the growing trend of Australians not using their annual leave, the campaign has rolled out radio advertising in Brisbane and Sydney to convince consumers to make use of their employee entitlements and book a Vanuatu holiday.

Using humour to sway potential holidaymakers, the radio and digital campaign plays on the idea that when you’re in desperate need of a holiday, silly mistakes happen. Using tongue-in-cheek situations like walking into a pole, the push from Vanuatu Tourism is a fun take on more traditional methods of encouraging consumers to about the fact that it’s time they took a well-deserved break.

Positioning Vanuatu as the perfect holiday destination for short-haul family escapes and couples retreats, the campaign is designed to help Australians discover the beauty of Vanuatu.

VTO's Australian representative, Georgia Gregerson says "so many Australians are letting their annual leave build up rather than booking a holiday and we hope this campaign will help them discover that Vanuatu is a beautiful, fun destination. Just over three hours from Sydney and two and half from Brisbane, Vanuatu is ideal for a couple's getaway.”
