Hideaway Island Resort
Hideaway Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary is a picture perfect tropical island with sand and coral beaches surrounded by turquoise blue water. This idyllic Vanuatu accommodation is only a short 15 minute bus and ferry trip from the airport and Port Vila.
Hideaway Island's Marine Sanctuary is one of the few places on earth where it is possible to hand feed hundreds of 'tame' brilliantly coloured fish right from the beach. As a marine sanctuary, Hideaway Island is the perfect dive resort offering many wonderful dive sites near by and excellent facilities and dive instructors to ensure guests have the most memorable diving experiences.
Accommodation
The accommodation on Hideaway Island has been built with a traditional Melanesian flavour, scattered amongst the jungle and tropical plants that cover this Vanuatu Island. There are no phones or televisions in the rooms, however guests can always contact reception for access to phones or communication facilities.
One Bedroom Oceanside Bungalow: Offers spectacular views over the water. These bungalows are the largest rooms with interior floor space of approximately 60 square metres, however they maintain that Melanesian feel with coral decorating the outer walls and local artefacts adorning the interior. There are 7 free standing bungalows and 2 others of a similar standard that share a wall with another building.
Double doors separate the bedroom from the living area and each bungalow features a fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, comfortable sofa setting, table and chairs in the living area and a wooden or coral deck outside with chairs and a double hammock. Bedding is 1 Queen bed and 4 Single beds. Maximum room capacity is 5 adults and children.
Twin Share Room: Ideal budget accommodation for couples or single travellers. Also called twin-dorms, there are 6 twin share beach units located right on the beach. The lodges are in a prime position for lazing and watching the world go by. They are located in a house-like structure with a wide wrap-around covered veranda with tables and chairs out the front and sides.
The rooms are furnished with a small cupboard and a hand basin. Separate shower and toilet facilities are close by. Bedding is 1 Double bed or 2 Single beds. Maximum room capacity is 2 adults. Children are not allowed in the twin share rooms.
Dining
On the Beach: A bar and restaurant that has guests returning year after year. Where else can guests sit with their toes in the sand overlooking beautiful coral reefs and crystal clear tropical waters while enjoying first class food. There is a blackboard menu that changes daily depending on the produce available.

Diving: Hideaway Island has a reputation for being a relaxed paradise for divers and snorkellers alike. There are more than 15 dive sites all within 15 minutes of the shore. Scheduled single tank dives are run every day at 8.30am, 10.30am and 2.00pm, regardless of the number of divers going out.
Many of the dive sites also make for excellent snorkelling so guests are able to join the dive group or the snorkel tour that leaves the island just after noon every day.
For guests who have never tried diving before, there is the ideal opportunity to experience this sport through Hideaway Island's PADI Scuba Experience program in a pool-like marine sanctuary.
For experienced divers, Hideaway Island's friendly dive team are there to ensure the best of what is on offer is discovered. The dive sites are all teeming with life ranging from sponges and hard corals, to anemones, gorgonian fans, and a host of fish. The sites themselves offer a range of styles - from right off the shore for great snorkelling or night diving, to steep walls dropping off to 97 meters, and caves formed by lava flows. After more than 12 years living in a marine sanctuary, the fine array of finned creatures that inhabit the sites have no fear of either divers or snorkelers.
One of the newest additions to the dive sites is the wreck of the MV Aloara, sunk on 9 November 2001 close to Hideaway.
A full PADI Resort Association Member, Hideaway Island offers full dive gear and underwater camera rental.
